North Sydney Renovation

An existing wooden house divided into two dwellings. A rear addition utilising a double height extension was envisaged to allow Winter sunlight to heat the interior space to overcome the sun shadow deficit caused by a high neighbouring property. The project was refused by council.

This house was designed for active solar heating in Winter and ventilation in Summer by means of fan forced air circulating between the solar heated roof space and a sub floor bed of stones cooled by ground contact.
