Artarmon House

This modest sequence of transverse V-trusses terminating in a lattice apron at the rear of the house sorted out a much altered original 1920s orchardist’s ironbark cottage. The work incorporated the new parts in a coherent modular format. The new and outer spaces were designed to unite the existing cottage with a lush rear garden at the western back of the house. The house received an award from the AIA in 1993 for housing excellence. It was recognised in 1992 for its use of timber.
